So many of you already know that the 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials are going to be in Houston, Texas on January 14th 2012. This decision is drawing the “ire” of the New York Road Runners, and really only because the NYRR has a vested interest in having the race in New York. This is an age old problem in running in our country. There are too many people involved in the sport that are trying to line their own pockets instead of focusing on the development of the athletes and the sport. Take a look back and you’ll realize, it really does not matter whether the race is in Houston or NYC. Although many will argue, the point that should never be deviated from is that the goal is to field the best team for the 2012 Olympics.
