If you are like me, you know who Usain Bolt is, but know very little about him. Bolt, a Jamaican sprinter “struck” (ha ha) the scene on August 16th, 2008 when he won the 100m run at the Olympics in Beijing, China.

If you remember, Bolt ran 9.69 seconds for 100m, then came back and ran 19.30 for 200m 4 days later. In the process, Bolt re-wrote the record books for both 100m and 200m. Of course, in the process, started a debate as to how much height was an indicator for performance in sprints.

Now, if you don’t happen to follow elite track and field, then I’d highly recommend tuning in to watch the European meets that are usually televised abroad. Usain Bolt will be competing at the Zurich Diamond League meet, along with Kenisa Bekele. Article

If Bolt’s 19.56 performance earlier this month is any indicator, there could be some very fast times at the end of the season. Article

On May 27, Bolt will attempt to break Michael Johnson’s 300m record time of 30.85 at the Czech Golden Spike meet in Ostrava. Story

Here is a biography of Usain Bolt from IAAF.

Since 2008, in addition to being seen at many nightclubs at 3:00am, Bolt managed to run 19.19 for 200m into a .3 headwind, and 9.58 for 100m.

Because of Bolt, running is becoming “cool” again. Article
