This weekend in Eugene, Oregon, the USATF – (US Nationals) for Track and Field are being held at historic Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.
Oh no, wait, somehow, this event didn’t get handed off to Eugene in some under the table $$ exchange between Nike and USATF.
Ok, let’s start over. USATF Track and Field Championships are this weekend at Drake Stadium, in Des Moines Iowa.
This will be an exciting meet. Look for a competitive men’s 5,000m, with Bernard Lagat fresh off of his American Record. The men’s 1,500m will be exciting with Lopez Lomong, David Torrence, and Will Leer. This should be your standard fare USA Championship 1,500m, with a moderate pace, and then bumper cars at 600m to go, someone making a move with 450 to go, and the rest of the field eating them up and Leonel Manzano for the win.
Sorry this post is a little light, but let’s be honest, it’s track, and those people take themselves too seriously anyway. Watch the meet for some great performances, and also to see how many times Ato Boldon flashes his fake smile and talks about all the texts he got.
