All Time sub 4 minute mile list

An obscure bit of data that is not often well known are: 1. Number of US based milers who have broken 4 minutes in the mile. 2. The number of people who have broken 4 minutes in the mile worldwide. If you are like me, you often encounter folks who have either broken 4 minutes for the mile, or claim to know someone who did. If you are interested in this statistic (as we are), please see the following links, and brief analysis.
1. List of American Sub 4 minute milers. As of this post, there have been a total of 347 Americans to break 4 minutes in the mile. 2010 was the year with the most new members with 18 runners breaking 4 minutes that year.
2. Number of sub 4 milers (worldwide) This list totals 1192.
The mark listed for each athlete is how fast he ran in his first-ever sub-4:00 mile. The list is for actual mile races, not
any conversions from the 1500 (where a 3:42.22 is equivalent to 3:59.99) or the 1600 (where 3:58.61 is required).
Dual citizens are not included unless they represented the U.S. internationally.
